The Blue Above

Blue hour, seen just before dawn and in the mist of dusk, transitions the world from night-time to daytime and vice versa. In today’s technology driven society blue light floods from screens all around us. However, many natural spectacles like starling murmurations take place at such a time when the light burns blue. This form of visible light illuminates a time period of vibrant activity in nature. A time of feeding, hunting, moving, gathering, migrating and so forth. But on a different wavelength, it prevents us from interacting with this wildlife, as we are transfixed by the glow of our screens. This project wanders through ideas of blue light and blue hour; and how in cohesion, this wavelength on the electromagnetic spectrum, explores the ultimate idea of our relationship between modern society and nature.
